It's a bit of both. But let's just say I find it better to not be hyped and to be surprised at PSX than to be hyped and then be disappointed when it doesn't come to fruition.

I really don't understand why the fact that we got an update for November means Shenmue 3 can't be at PSX?

If anything, there are being FAITHFUL to their (tacit) commitment to bring backers a monthly update of the project.

By the way, the update is about music... what's the big deal?
If they want Shenmue 3 to be kind of a surprise at PSX, they are not going to tease us just a few days before the event.

Obviously we don't know for sure that shenmue 3 will be there but there is so much evidence that they'd need a good reason for not showing it. I hope you're wrong anyway

I'd normally agree, and that was the position I took at E3, but we've known for a long while they have plans for a big picture and video update come December. That clearly isn't just a Kickstarter update for the end of the year.

Cedric outright said to someone that PSX will be worth watching for Shenmue fans, and Peter told us the video he saw in Japan was an E3 trailer pulled at the last minute. The time for Shenmue III's public re-unveiling is nigh.

Unless some immense shenanigans have happened behind the scenes in the last few days, it's a foregone conclusion that it'll be at PSX.

Hm... maybe Yu isn't in the same clothes after all. The shirt is the same, even if he's wearing a hoody, but I just noticed Yu's jacket on a chair is different in the August video and...

This is giving me a headache, hahaha. Bring on PSX.

The Christmas/New Year update is going to be a PSX recap. Seems indeed legit.

That makes sense, although if Shenmue 3 is at PSX, there could be another update before the end of December.
I still have the feeling we could see updates on the Slacker Backer campaign.
