Well, you're getting the chance to ask Yu when you go to Japan, hopefully. Though I figure it'll probably just keep running up until the point you can preorder the game properly at a retailer/when it gets a release date.

Honestly, the amount it brings in per month isn't insignificant. Adding the PC version on there needs to be a priority but shutting it down would be silly considering it can pull a couple thousand a month, so I think they'll just drag it out as long as possible to keep costs covered.

I've got my eye on a replica jacket from the PayPal site though, so I reaaaaally hope it stays open. I could probably afford it by October, but I've got other costs to cover so it might have to wait until like... March next year. I really have to wonder if anybody will buy the original Ryo jacket... it might be nice for it just to remain with Yu. It's kind of sad that he had to raid his Shenmue merchandise collection to add incentive to certain tiers, but given that it'd aid the finances of being able to continue the series I doubt he was that sore about having to do some spring cleaning.

Same, but going back through the updates this year it seems they're not totally religious about getting it on the last day at all. We might get a Friday surprise in that case just to close out the week.

Either way, we get an early warning about updates now by checking the main website's cache for additions, right? Might be worth someone who knows how to keep an eye on that stuff to stay mildly at the ready so everybody is prepared to do their posting on forums/social media/etc to promote the new information like the wonderful yet unpaid PR firm we are, hahaha. I doubt any of us would do this for any game other than Shenmue.

I have to wonder if update news is more or less likely to get picked up by games sites if it happens on Friday as opposed to midweek. Ideally they've got someone running the analytics on that, but it is Awesome Japan after all...
