Shenmue Update (Email from Adam Doree)

(Chapter 7 and beyond)

Postby MiTT3NZ » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:31 pm

It's almost as if SEGA planned this whole thing just to piss us off for not buying fifteen copies of each game. Ironic thing is, a lot of peeps on here probably did.

Hey Guys,

Something for ALL you Shenmue fans. Tired of waiting around, i tried to contact Sega myself. The only contact information i could find was an email address for Sega Technical Support. So i emailed them asking if the game is still under development or has it been cancelled. This is the reply i got:

"Dear Mr. Waseem,

Thank you for e-mailing Sega Technical Support.

There is no information about Shenmue 3 being released in the next few months.

Sincerely,
Sega of America Technical Support"

Rather vague but at least they didnt say it has been cancelled. What are your thoughts? :?

Considering this topic is about Shenmue Online, I'd say you've wasted precious minutes of your life you'll never be able to get back.

Just signed up when I read this thread (although I've been following this forum for years) I have to agree with some of the opinions on here. On one hand, I'd like to see Shenmue finished regardless of how it happens, be it book, DVD movie whatever. At the same time I kinda dont wanna see it go to a developer other then Sega, I dunno if thats the fanboy within me speaking but yeah, I'm kinda glad Shenmue Online got canned. Woulda sucked if Sega Sammy funded all that cash into the project only to see it be a commercial failure like Shenmue, that woulda really tainted the chances of a Shenmue 3...more so then they are now heh.

I gotta give respect to that guy for being so frank in his email, I remember after asking Suzuki whether Shenmue would be finished through other forms of media he replied "No Shenmue will definetly be finished through games" But I guess that doesnt answer whether its gonna get finished.

Still as menitoned earlier, it was still an experience and a half to be able to play Shenmue 1 and 2, plus I wanna kinda end this post cos I'm sure all the veterans on here have probably herd this all before.

But man, the day I read on the front page of this site "Shenmue 3 announced" BY GOD I'll cry.

sega is nothing like it used to be they hardly exist anymore, hopefully things will turn around or suzuki will leave and take shenmue with him. I mean if nights can get a sequel on wii then why can't shenmue get one?

^Actually, technically the game hasn't been canceled yet.

TGS 2007:Shenmue Online for Japan?
Well, who knows?

I hope if canceling Shenmue Online will help us to see Shenmue 3 sooner,
they don't talk about Shenmue Online before Shenmue 3 again!.
