I don't get it? Why would I feel cool?

Bah, nevermind. I assume I misinterpreted it. It seemed first like an attack against those around here who still really believe something Shenmue-related might be announced :P

Nevertheless, this whole thing with Shenmue and Yu at Sega still sucks.

Hmm, and yeah, Propeller Arena was officially cancelled I believe. The irony there is that we were able to play it after all, haha. Shenmue isn't cancelled officially but we can't get our hands on it ;) I think they went out with Propeller Arena to really show it to the world. That they wouldn't release a game like that after 9/11.

Anyway, Yu should not only leave Sega , but take the entire AM2 development house, and the Shenmue 3 rights, with him, and set up a new company.

Yeah, okay, I'm dreaming. But so what.

That is a great idea acsuley, but aint going to happen dude, and dont see why it wont happen ??

Lol Mittens, there's rich and there's rich. You'd have to be the second type to pay for Shenmue III. And you wouldn't be very rich after you did. You'd be back to square one

You know, I've thought about it some more and maybe they have been telling us this for years now. In the beginning they said something like "Yes, we are looking for a publisher deal" or "we need to find the right hardware, blah blah".
But then times changed. We got "You'll see" or "We are not carrying on any relative development yet. There are no plans to make Shenmue 3 at the moment." Maybe that always meant "Fuck yourselves, we'll never make Shenmue 3." I don't know too much about Japanese culture and mentality but in China it is considered inpolite to directly say "no" to someone. If the Chinese say "you'll see" or "ask someone else" or "not at the moment" that means "no". Maybe it's the same in Japan too, as it is also an East Asian culture.
Maybe Yu-San always wanted to tell us: "Look, I'll never be able to make that game as the company bigshots won't allow me to do it because they don't want it and don't fucking care about it."

What we need to know now is:

1. Has Yu Suzuki personally given up the game Shenmue (3) or not?
We gotta make him talk!!!

2. Who owns the rights to Shenmue?
Is it Sega Corporation whith its new President CEO and COO Hajime Satomi, the leader of Sammy? Is it AM Plus (Yu's new studio), or is it just Suzuki himself, or is it AM Software, which appears to be what's left of AM 2?
http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/ ... 07_ir1.pdf

3.Would it be possible for another developer to buy the rights, or at least a license AND cooperate with Yu-San to make Shenmue 3?

4a. Is it possible for Yu-San to start his own independent business (which is of course totally and completely independent from SegaSammy Holdings and any of its subsidiaries! )
b. Could his own company get the rights to Shenmue?

5. If there was absolutely no possibility to ever finish Shenmue, what would Yu Suzuki and Sega do? Could they make it into a movie or make a novel out of the script?
They should at least publish the story in some way!

long time no see, everyone.

greetings from hong kong. (re-register as i lost my account p/w)

Kyuu is a moderator now! :-) nice!

I feel sad to have heard that the SO production might have been cancelled.

As it's my hope for Shenmue 3.

Not even mention I want to play it on 360/PS3/Wii someday.

I will keep paying attention to more news about Shenmue and this forum too.

Here are what I know!

1-He can't talk until SEGA says "Ok, YS you can talk",
remember he is still at SEGA-SAMMY.

2-Shenmue(not Online) is still SEGA-AM2's project(if Adam is right)
but I think that they can't do anything before SEGA-SAMMY's OK.
AM2 even begged SEGA! for VF5 X360.

3-Since Xbox has Shenmue 2, Microsoft should be able to do something.
they have the money and need to do better in Japanese market.
(I wish Peter Moore could remain at MS, he was a small hope for me)

4a-Why not? but I guess that he might be able to have an independent
studio like Yuji Naka's studio nothing more,
shame, Yuji hasn't announced a game yet!
& SEGA is still the main publisher for his studio.

I will be more happy if Suzuki san can start a new studio like
Hironobu Sakaguchi's successful studio "Mistwalker"

in a short time they've developed some titles
like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey & etc.
Now they're working more games for DS, X360 & ...
like ASH, Cry On, Blue Dragon 2 & more.

As we know "Mistwalker" is a Japanese video game development studio started
by Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of the Final Fantasy series) in 2004
with the financial backing of Microsoft but they're
free to create games for which publisher/platform they like.
they are also working with some new independent Japanese studios.
some of these studios have drawn personnel and talent from
several of Sega's development teams, particularly those which worked on
Panzer Dragoon , Sonic the Hedgehog (created by Ōshima) and even Shenmue!

But here is one thing important! "we don't still know everything!"
maybe Suzuki san should remain at SEGA to keep Shenmue alive!
, maybe if he leaves SEGA-SAMMY, they kill his franchise "Shenmue"!!!
this might really harm!!!

5-Shenmue is not Shenmue without a real game, that's what I only want.
(releasing a movie or a novel or ... is the last way    )

You'd think so, but the corporate world is a very strange place, without morals and common sense.

i think all of you are being very drastic, and you cant wait

lets see, first shenmue sold 3 millon units more or less

how many copies did you think VF5 for ps3 sold ??

they are not going to fuckup a big franchise like shenmue is

and also, will come a time when games could be done really easy...

i dont think they will end shenmue like that...

But does AM2 still exist? That's not clear to me. I thought there was no AM2 anymore. I couldn't find any R&D department called AM2 here:
http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/ ... 07_ir1.pdf

Hiroshi Kataoka who was formerly a member of AM2, if my memory is right, is said to be the creative officer of AM Software. Whatever that is. Yu-San is a member of AM Plus.

AM2 still exists, of course. What do you see at the bottom in this page:

http://virtuafighter5.jp/

Kataoka-san is the boss of the whole AM Software R&D Dept. which includes AM2 and
AM3 (former Hitmaker), at least.

Thank you.

So the situation is the same still, I assume. Nobody, including Yu Suzuki himself knows what AM Plus is supposed to do and they don't have any own franchises. Hmmm, well Shenmue is done and out. This is it.
