Hi

i made a poll so people can give their opinion, but well just open the link and you will understand i think
(please share the link on whatever Shenmue or video games related site/forum you go, i cant subscribe to all of them)

http://strawpoll.me/4684057
(the main idea being raising more funds)

i was just thinking about a few sponsor (with high level selection)
so we could see Hyundai, Pepsi, Nutella, etc...

if i get enough vote i will transmit them to Shibuya Productions (company supporting Yu Suzuki and in direct contact with him)

i just want to get the 10 millions $ so dont hate me for that...

Sega actually paid for product placement in Shenmue I and II. They should definitely get paid for companies to provide product placement in Shenmue 3.

thanks for telling me this :)

oh i forgot ! if you post on some forums/sites, please share the link of the poll so we can get more votes \:D/

i pledged shenmue kickstarter but i also want to do all what i can to support and help the project (finding financial support and sponsors is -i think- also one of the best way to make Shenmue 3 a AAAAA production  )

This is a good idea, and I can't see why this wouldn't work really.

Of course, I don't know jack sh*te about sponsorships, but if you showed some numbers about the kickstarter, about the game's message, etc. to the companies in the proper way... would be weird if all of them said no?

Pepsi Max all the way. 8)

Yeah product placement done in the right way give a more realistic feeling, and if it provides a little more amount of foundings I am totally fine, in fact I love things like the Coca Cola machines in Shenmue.

I'd like to see this type of product placement if the companies pay for it and not the other way around.
If Yu has to pay them it's sadly never gonna happen.

The only thing I don't like product placement is that it can be too in your face!

If its done in a realistic way, where you occasionally see it like for example Coca Cola trucks delivering coca cola then it's ok.

Another thing I don't like is if they are the only product with no competition...Like if I got to a tomatoes market and all I see is Coca Cola or hershey in the store. I want variety, so Coca Cola should put its other companies like sprite, like in the first game....My ideal idea would be Coca Cola and Pepsi in shenmue, so it will feel realistic

Imagine Jobs working for Coca Cola n companies like that lol, if done right and it is fun, Im all for it if it gives lots of money to Shenmue.

Great ideas, but I think this might be limited by the fact it is set in rural communist China in the late 1980's.

They can slap product placement in my face from the get go if it means it helps get Shenmue 3 funded.

In Game Advertising

It's looking that this project would be lucky if it hit 5mill after this is said and done for. Half of what Yu Suzuki is dreaming of. So the thought came to mind, how about in game advertising? Would anyone be bothered if a wall next to a Tomato Convenience Store had let's say a Coca-Cola advert? I would imagine Yu Suzuki would want to contact Timex if he already hasn't. As long as it doesn't interfere with the game I think this is a way to get closer to the figure he's looking for.

i agree. its ok asking fans for money but adversing would be the way forward. (even the metal gear solid games have in game advertising)

maybe someone can ask Yu Suzuki if he's considered it yet.

I don't mind real brands at all if it's done in a seamless way in a gaming world. The Yakuza series are one example. Actually, having something like this kind of increases the real life aspect and immersiveness.
