How easy would it be to use the old models on UE4? Is it even possible?

You could probably find a way to make it work, but those models are going to be nearly 20 years old by the time the game releases. They'll just end up looking dated. I know people hold the passport model in high regard but they're better off starting from scratch and aiming to fulfill the vision of what these characters look like as depicted in the designs and art from the original games.

Honestly, just using the old models would be the easy way out.

They won't be using old models. It's a different, updated, and, for most people, better technology and they will be making use of it. All they have to do is simply draw it and sculpt ("model") it exactly like the original.

It's really the kind of cinematic I'm excepting for the Shenmue III intro.

The graphics are an amazing mix of realisticness and beautifulness.

New music :
http://www.gameblog.fr/news/57108-decou ... ue-3/page2

The first track (0021-010) is a battle music.

The second track (0006-009) is a training theme music. Yu imagines a scene where 30 people are together and training to hit.

The third track (0023-20) is a variation of the main theme. Yu imagines Shenhua playing the flute alone. There are four variations of the main theme gathered in the square : 0015-007, 0023-20, 0028-004 and 0028-003.

Transcript an audio record to a text takes some time. Shenmue Master is on the way.

Did people recognize, during the soundsession, Yu's PowerPoint presentation was 38 pages instead of the 21 he showed?

Page 23 for example shows "Concept art for Akira".

I hope It's possible for me to write down my feelings and reactions about last weekend like Peter did. It was great to be there.

Have some great item's signed, have had great moments!

as Ramsey Taieb mentioned on Facebook:
Yu Suzuki is a very nice guy, modeste & friendly !

Although it was only 2 items per person, i went twice as i had stuff for other people to get signed who couldnt make the trip lol. Suzuki-san still seemed very jolly and laughed as i approached for the second time, and also commented on the specific pen i gave form him to sign something. It was a great interaction.

Great memories really !

Funny detail on that picture, the translator wrote my name on that paper
to show Yu Suzuki how to write it on my poster :)
Because Yu wanted to write my name, I didn't even asked him :D

Some of you asking if they ll use the model from the passport.

There is no technical reason why they couldn't, but i really think they won't.

the way of making a character model has changed a lot since 1999.

On shenmue 1 and 2, model has only one kind of map for the texture (diffuse map/colour map).
Now there is 3, 4, 5 (or more) kind of map for a character (Diffuse map, Normal Map, Roughness, Metalness, Subsurface Map, Fuzzmap ect ....)

Great post Peter, I would have been the same as you aswell upon first seeing Yu Suzuki like that, pretending not to notice them haha :D!

Really appreciate everything you did on the day, everyone you met sounded great aswell, it's really cool to hear everyone being so nice and looking out for each other, and from the video footage we've seen so far David was also great on stage!

As happy as Ziming sure is above, with those fantastic photographs and signatures, I too am ecstatic to know such a great guy like Peter, who selflessly when limited to 2 items, still managed to go above and beyond and did his best to get my US Shenmue box signed aswell! I am eternally grateful, and also wish to thank the photographer for photos to also cherish :)

I only wonder if the PS4 version will look this good.

I'm assuming this demo is running off PC tech?

At 29 seconds in the complete Shenhua's house demo we see every pine needle on the tree rendered... that's a lot of processing power.
