30 hours to complete the game is awesome news.
I was really worried during the Kickstarter period that due to the limited budget it wouldn't be possible to create a game that long.

I do really wonder what has been the reason for removing the facial animations...
Not a satisfying result or new technology used?

If there's a longer trailer, I see no reason why it won't come public sooner or later, unless it's subject to NDA.

Thanks for the news :)

Perhaps the "improvement" is not financial?

What did happen to Sony?

(damn I really can't sleep)

It may be that the kickstarter is just not enough to keep the development going for another year. That's probably why Biscay said it was critic for Shenmue to get released in 2017: because otherwise they would've needed to secure another partner to keep the development going (Deep Silver).

EDIT: I'm now reading Switch's translation and it kind of confirms this :D

That's nearly 70% more footage.

Seems there will be dlc for S3. Starting to feel a bit uncomfortable because of this. Hope they will keep the dlc down to a minimum and not do any microtransactions.

It was kind of already clear that there would be DLC because in the Kickstarter we already have the International Phone Card download, Ryo jacket skin change and I seem to recall stuff like Capsule Toy tickets and move scrolls.

Hopefully it won't be too over the top though and spoil the money system, i'm normally completely against DLC, but i'm actually all onboard for the game to earn extra funding for Shenmue 4 and hopefully 5 aswell :)...now the series is back I want it to go all the way again!

A sample of the full interview:

We can put a name to the person who accompanied Yu in the backer dinner. His name is Hideaki Morishita and he's the executive producer of Shenmue 3.

Should journalists keep covering the teaser and stress that it's still WIP footage, then there's nothing to worry about, SIII will be well received :)

Any ideas about the executive producer's pedigree? Can't find any information on Google.

According Moby Games, he was supervisor on Phantasy Star Universe and special thanked for Final Fantasy 9 , no more info about him.

Game Watch. Some sites have spread the news (Gematsu, Gamekult).

I'm afraid my source won't be of much help to you, as it's in German. They are referring to the Famitsu and Game Watch interviews which they paraphrased in their article. Keep in mind they didn't translate the whole interviews but just paraphrased them.

Perhaps Switch, Kiyuu or someone else who reads Japanese can clarifiy this.

There you go. That's his Linkedin profile.

Started his career way back in 81, so he's probably around the same age as Yu-san, maybe a bit older. Held executive positions in Square Enix for two years and Sega for five years. Then he worked as a freelancer and now seems to be working for a company called Catch Media Inc. in Japan. However, his name is nowhere to be found on their website, neiter on the board nor in executive management.

https://www.catchmedia.com/about/

Assuming he is working full time for YS Net now, YS Net would be his 7th employer since 2000. :| Talk about bumpy career paths.

Well anyway, let's hope for the best, the guy has held leading positions in companies like Square Enix and Sega for about seven years in total, so he's a video game industry veteran who should have a good ability to execute and deliver on projects. However, the guy seems to have focused more on digital entertainment outside of video games during the last ten years.

I'm fine with DLC. Micro-transactions I am not.

And boom... any worries are now completely gone for me. I figured the character models were still being worked on.

Also... 30 hours to complete the game!? Phenomenal. I was feeling 15 hours would be an optimistic ideal.
