If Sega is announcing the HD versions now, then release is most likely 6 months away. This means that we are probably looking at an October release. Shenmue 3 won't be out until sometime in 2019.

Wait, why are the remakes limited to 1080p?

A lot of premature assumptions here.

I think the only reasonable one is that III will come after HD.

From the steam page:
Fully scalable screen resolutions

As it is WIP maybe we will get more. PC mods will push 4k too I'm sure.

Yeah, it’s probably not the dream remake some of us hoped for, but it’s what the series needed and will really help Shenmue 3 in the end. That’s all I wanted or needed.

Shoutouts to Sega for using the proper logo. Hopefully Yu will do the same for consistency's sake

All I ever wanted was a retail release and dual audio. Updated controls is a nice bonus. Congrats everyone! A new Sakura Taisen was announced too, good time to be a SEGA fan!

Hooray! Now, when is the release date?!

Also, do I notice the lack of shadows in the Shenmue 2 scenes from the trailer? I hope it's not another X360 situation.

Actually, can people tell if those scenes are based on the DC or XB versions? I can only tell the difference in night because of the bloom.

YEEEEEEES! From what I read they already have a build running so it won't take long.

Going by the screenshots, it doesn't look like the games have been remastered. It looks like they're just being ported. I hope I'm wrong though.

Either way I'm getting it!

If you're thinking Shadow of the Colossus, Crash, Spyro - those are basically remakes, but are puzzlingly being called remasters because since the dawn of the HD collection literally nobody can agree on the proper terminology.
