Arrived at Hamilin but went back to Ding Dong Dell and Al Mamoon to do sidequests and grind. NOt only one of the best RPG's this gen but should be a future classic. Like Wind Waker in 2003 10 years from now the game will still look great.

Just played through Golden Grove and little bits of the music there reminded me of the forest music in FFIX.

I don't. :P

its good seeing people support RPGs day 1, I hope everyone jumps on Tales of Xillia as well.

Hey, I support RPGs, just not these ones. Too overhyped. This'll sell well anyway.

It's rare I have total disgust for a RPG let alone a series but Tales is it. Like the CoD of JRPG's in terms of how generic it is

Yeeeeah, got to admit, I really hate the art for the Tales of... series, pretty much why I steer clear of it. It was stuff like that which put me off JRPGs for so many years, tbh. That, and the fans are really noisy about how it has the best battle system ever and whatnot.

I do know that it has its fans on here though, so I'll shut up.

Funny thing is it's not that great of a ARPG battle system I don't think. I think Star Ocean/Final Fantasy XII/Xenoblade in terms of the quasi ARPG system is better. Just my opinion however. In fact Ni no Kuni is very SO like in that regard.

Edit yeah I lumped FFXII/XB real time with non real time games but still I consider it not full ARPG like the ones mentioned

I personally really like hybrid battle systems the most, the more experimental, the better. In a way, I'm sort of glad this game is doing as well as it is, despite how crazy the hype is behind it, the more that games like this and Xenoblade do well, the more these type of JRPGs with interesting hybrid battle systems will be made.

I like both and think it depends on the game. Some games might be worse using a Ys like approach. Other games work better the other way. While I can play and enjoy any RPG's that are turn based I prefer more action oriented RPG's as I want to keep the flow going and for me that turn based esp random battles can disrupt that flow for me personally.

Want the guide but not when it's the same price as the WE. I'm a sucker for guides tho. I really like the artwork in them. For me een tho they are not needed in the Youtube era,a game always felt more complete to me even now with the guide. Seems Brady and Prima know this and why the have CE guides now and make them thick and in some cases as pictured hardcover. They know SG's are a collectors market only now.

Some people I found out are bashing the name. Just means Another World.

I rather liked the name as Another World would have sounded blah, boring. So for us non Japanese speaking folks it sounds interesting.

Does this game seem similar to Pokemon to anyone else, in terms of if Pokemon actually had an intricate plot and wasn't generic as fuck. (I like pokemon but the story really stagnates) ?

Just makes me upset with gamefreak for only doing Pokemon RPGs on handhelds.

BTW there's an unofficial movie of Ni no Kuni on youtube. :D

Yeah the familiars are very Pokemon heavy. Just the characters are actually adorable instead a turtle vomiting on everything and things with giant plants growing like a bunch of fungi on their backs. :P
