1up last year or so had really great articles esp about JRPG's. Ys fans as well. IGN and Gametrailers show in order to make money you need to suck.

IGN bought 1UP about 2 years ago and featured many writers writing for both sites.

Yeah I know.Just you can see one site took a better direction and went under. The other went a horrible direction and us still around. One decided to post news and be insightful and the other decided to just plain suck and have the reviews written as if they were told to write like down syndrome chimps

IGN didn't buy 1up. Newscrop the owner of IGN, bought UGO the owner of 1up, and Ziff Davis recently bought all f Newcrop's gaming subsidiaries. It seems like semantics but its actually a pretty big detail considering IGN didin't necessarily "beat" 1up. It more like IGN's daddy (Rupert Murdoch himself) beat up 1up's daddy (UGO which mostly dealt in women's magazines and video games...weird combo) then Ziff Davis came in and raped everyones mom (PS I hate ZiffDavis as an entity)

They also killed Gamespy

Jeremy Parish who was the head honcho at 1up is now at IGN, so IGN just got better, hope he isn't wasted there.

Back when SD was hosted on Gamespy Jeff was an avid Fox News supporter and when Newscorp bought Gamespy he was ecstatic thinking SD was going to be shut down for some reason.

Was doing research on a particular topic and found out this tidbit. I thought it was a mistake at first. Granted one is a much smaller company its still pretty striking when you look at all of the information.

i don't know if I ever mentioned this but I hate that the anime intros from the japanese versions of dynasty warriors get cut for the us release they're fucking great covers.

[Who Really Cares?]

Anyone else hate the use of the word core game?

Seems to just come down to, I like this game so its core and i don't like that game so its not. Pretty clear most people on the net who use the word have no real idea what it means and its not something you ever hear a gamer actually say when talking about games.

its a buzzword like epic. its an edgy pr way of saying hardcore...yea I never really understood it either.
