Did you really expect Yu Suzuki give us a clear and concise answer in some stage interview? His answers often consist of short responses such as.. perhaps, maybe, probably, etc. At the end of the day it is entirely up to Sega to come out and announce it.

Why Suzuki-san does not go clear and say something like: "I am Yu Suzuki... I made Shenmue... $ega holds the license... ask them (=harsh) / unfortunately I can not do anything (=sympathetic)". Maybe, because he is "really kind and generous" (as "Sarah from game-pad.fr" said), he does not want his Shenmue fans to loose their hope (as it seems he does not want to loose his, too), so that is why he go with "perhaps, maybe's, possibly's" et cetera.

It depends on what exactly was said. So far, it sounds like he said it's not (currently) happening, as opposed to "not that I'm aware of," etc. Which sounds pretty definite. If he felt he wasn't in a position to give a straight answer, either because he wasn't sure or because he'd been asked not to, then he'd have been more vague. We may still find that to be the case, but so far it appears he was quite clear on the matter.

We've been hearing his cryptic and short answers about Shenmue 3 for years now. Which fans have been trying to decipher with no avail to give them a glimpse of hope. Based on that can we confidently assume Yu Suzuki will give us a straight answer on Shenmue HD? He's not with Sega anymore, so he can't provide anything reassuring.

I'm kinda biased about this whole HD port because I was privy to some information about it last year. It's frustrating to hear Yu Suzuki say there is nothing happening.

Couple times Ziming says he knows a secret about Shenmue HD. Both times refuses to say it. before he said it would be Kikizo type thing all over again. So I called him out on if the secret is legit or just likes to tease. Tho the last post was pretty forceful and guess he got offended. That's fine. Just it really ticks me off when people go on they have this super secret announce they have a secret over and over but when asked what they just give an excuse not to say it. So anytime that happens I have always questioned the validity of it. I could have come across better but just how I feel. Apologies if you felt offended Ziming. Just a tad frustrated

Ziming wouldn't bullshit. But there is never any reason to publicly state you are privy to private information, when there is no intention to divulge. We're all Shenmue fans in the same boat. And the Shenmue HD boat is good as sunk until Sega drops an announcement. They're still mum on Skies of Arcadia which, evidently, would preclude a Shenmue re-release. Sega is the definition of a mega corporation that is out of touch with its fans, as well as the talent that works/worked for them.

So, $ega's slogan is something like "Skin for skin!" and they will give up everything they owns [including their many years loyal fans, (but of course not their money...)] in exchange for their business' successfulness...

I used to admire $ega as a whole, but not now, not anymore. I just feel sympathetic for its workers (past and new) that has been juiced (they even toss Yu as a pitched lemon) for the shake of that money making monster.
