Secret of Mana artist has passed away

Legendary artist Hirō Isono, who is best known for working on Squaresoft's Mana franchise (known as Seiken Densetsu in Japan), has recently passed away. He worked on nearly every game in the series from Final Fantasy Adventure in 1991 to Heroes of Mana in 2007.

Did you know that the Mana series was originally a Final Fantasy offshoot, starting with a game called Final Fantasy Adventure? It's a franchise rich with history, and if you haven't checked it out, Secret of Mana is a great starting place. I'll never forget his work.

I found out at the show, it made me really sad.

His art is a very big inspiration for me even we really lost a great.

I always thought it was a shame that the only printed poster of this image released in the US had an ugly red dragon photoshopped over it in a Nintendo Power magazine. Wish I could get a full-size version of the original image.
Easily one of the most absorbing pieces of videogame art ever created. This picture was one of the only reasons I envied my SNES-owning friends in the early 90s. Made me want the game.



Oh, and uh... the PM wasn't really necessary. I would have seen the topic anyway.
