So glad at this news. I didn't want to dislike you so much, Microsoft, but you made it so damn hard. Looks like I'll be getting an Xbox One, then. At least now I can now play games from some of my favourite guys in the industry like Sam Lake, Yukio Futatsugi and SWERY. Quantum Break, Crimson Dragon and D4 will be mine.

I see it as going with a company that is quick to act on their customer feedback and make changes to accommodate the userbase. Netflix tried to do the same thing by separating the DVD and stream services and quickly dropped it after overwhelmingly bad feedback.

Kudos to them for getting their act together. I truly think they would of been screwed if they didn't backpedal.

However if i buy an xbox one, I'm sure I'm still going to have a million adverts on my screen, and restrictions to services I've paid for (like Netflix) if i don't pay for gold.

Still going to stick with the cheaper PS4.

It was inevitable. I said last year to a mate when the first murmurings of Microsoft going down the used game policy route that they couldn't possibly do it if Sony didn't follow suit, it's corporate suicide. As soon as they saw the initial public reaction from online polls, blogs and gaming sites they would have shat a brick and called emergency discussions to try and stem the tide of the public hate. Twitter and Facebook can make a big difference for this kind of shit, this is the first generation where people have had a voice.

I'm still irritated with the fact that they tried to pull these policies in the first place, but at least they've swayed me from a "hell no" to a "maybe" position.

It's good they actually listened to the people. They're definitely back in the game now.

I remember Microsoft saying that the console was designed ground up for the "features" they were promising and that there was no way at all to remove the DRM, and that the cloud would be infinitely beneficial, so their backpedaling on it just proves to me they're liars and not to be trusted.
