You remember the recent news about the nosgoth game right?
Silicon knights/crystal dynamics ect create not just a series but a masterpiece.
A series of games with puzzles actions well constructive VERY deep story the whole package!
The series suddenly hits a brick wall leaving masses of fans disappointed.
(Recognize another game like this ;) )
When suddenly square enix, another fantastic company gets their grubby hands on the series.
A short while later out of nowhere millions of exited faces all lit up by the bright light of their machines monitors all staring into the glowing crystal/phosphor. It tells them something wonderful.
The series is being rebooted.
Only, not quite how the expected it to be.
The faces stop smiling. The faces go blank.
Square enix had not developed a title for the fans at all!
They had simply dug up the body that had been layed to rest and resurrected it!
They had turned this beautiful series into another x vs y fighting game.
Like counter strike or tf2...

Who's to say shenmue 3 will not be the next street fighter!

While anything is possible, I'd say we are one of the most vocal communities out there and it's quite obvious what we want. I wouldn't worry too much about that as any changes the series would receive would likely be an upgrade.

Well I hope so.
No one I know really actually likes Shenmue.
When I first heard that it had a massive fanbase I didn't believe it.
Lets prey for the best for the future of shenmue and give the world hell if they fuck it up.

If Shenmue III comes out, then I'm sure they will try the best to realize the visions that Yu intended to give to us.
The long awaited continuation of the story won't suddenly turn into something like Shenmue Online, though that may seem to be something that actually could happen... in the worst case.

Now, how much would the development team of Shenmue III actually listen to the community? Well, back when Shenmue II was made they surely took their time to listen what players were complaining about. Just look how many issues they adressed with Shenmue II.
I might be entirely wrong about the following, as I never heard or read about it again but I have memories the Dreamcast days where I read in a magazine that there was some poll where you could vote what girl would fall in love with Ryo. So the players could actually choose how a little part of the story would turn out. My memory could be off about that or so could be the information in the magazine.

Square Enix didn't develop Nosgoth; Psyonix did. Square Enix just owns the publishing rights and nothing else. Don't blame them for something they didn't do.

Id still play the hell out of it. Could aswell be a Shenmue themed Tamagotchi with 4 bit pictures telling the gamers new information about the game. I would still appreciate it.

The reason I first fell in love with shenmue.
Is not for its graphics.
Not for its fighting scenes.
But for its attention to detail and story.
It had an intriguing gameplay machanic.
It was fun.
You had to devote time into it.
The longer you played it the more pieces of the puzzle where relieved.
I played shenmue only a few years ago.
We could never afford a dreamcast!
I emulated it because an old friend got me into it.
For me the graphics where nothing special, I'd seen all the old tricks before.
All I had to enjoy was the game itself.
And I have never enjoyed a game so much in my life!
As you continues the story spiraled downwards faster and faster (in a good way) like you where on some sort of roller coaster. But it got stuck on the loop and everybody's fun time has been cut short.
Sega amusements offer us a free ticket to ride again but when we come back the roller coaster is gone and we have to find fun somewhere else.
The world is full of fighting games. Full of online games.
But how many shenmue's
Do you really want this to become of shenmue.
Sure you could say "ah well at least they still acknowledge it"
They could release a fucking pen set with ryo's head as the lid but that isn't shenmue.
Cameo's are not games. Spin off series are not part of the proper series.
I joined the shenmue fans just a few years ago. Im living proof this game can make it in today market.
SEGA PLEASE DO THIS RIGHT.
