The whole point of the game imo is to immerse yourself into the world of Ryo Hazuki, become Ryo Hazuki , this can only truly be done when playing alone not with someone watching over your shoulder or 'commenting' on certain scenes etc

My five year old has been quite interested in my recent replay of Shenmue, so I'm sure he will spend plenty of time watching me play 3. He likes to pick out the flavor of soda that Ryo drinks, and always reminds me to feed the kitty at the shrine.

I may end up playing it with a friend of mine I haven't seen in years, he used to post here as 'Milkybarkid' years ago (as he does indeed look a bit like of him) - may be a good excuse for a reunion

I'll more than likely be playing by myself the first time through.

My best friend posted here back in the day as well, under the user name CT and we discovered Shenmue at the same time. And I played through 1 and 2 at his house, so maybe something similar will happen after my initial playthrough.

Oh I'll be playing on my own the first playthrough for sure, seeing as it's out December 2017 I may wait to play it on Christmas Day, as the first two games were Christmas presents for me in 2000 and 2001 respectively

NO! shenmue is the tale of one man, and as such, must be 'experienced' unfettered by distractions...
if at least for the first playthough...till it's conclusion, no miss. (in my humble onion.)

Oh man...I bought Shenmue 2 around Christmastime '01 as well....there were piles of it at the store, out in the open.
