MSG Journey to Jaburo props up in my head from time to time, which is strange given it's so far from being an excellent game. But the remixed soundtrack is the best incarnation of the original, not sounding as cheesy or as old. The graphics were lovingly crafted with highly detailed mobile suits and the cinematics, both in engine and reanimated shorts from the show were clearly made with an in depth understanding for finding the right timing and track to accompany and cue the action.
The controls seem so poor initially, not at all intuitive for a "Game" experience. And yet, they seemingly give a good impression of what it would be like moving around in a 60 ton war machine. You acclimate to the sluggishness of moving around in a mobile suit and gradually become more adept. What feels so sloppy at first eventually gives way to defeating Zaku's, then defeating Zaku's more efficiently, and eventually in style, to the point that you perfectly space and time a booster leap bearing down on a hapless Zeon pilot with a blistering beam saber attack, one shotting them instantly. It feels like a milestone when you get Amuro good.
