I will love it if the second teaser tomorrow is showing off amazing facial animations, just to get back at the doubters and generate even more discussion.

Ha ha - yeah, I wasn't going to say it myself but you hit the nail on the head. If they do do a Guilin long-walk revisit, us original fans will be worse hit because we'll keep comparing the original to the new. Shenhua's outfit is already an apparent retcon.

Don't get me wrong folks. My official opinion of the trailer reveal is one of jubilation. Shenmue is back. And I for one have no issues with how who and what is appearing different from when we last had the company of Shenhua and Ryo over a decade ago. After so many years I can accept that technology and graphical techniques have changed and that Yu might have changed his opinion on how and what his characters and creations should look and feel like.

In addition to the walls, the door ways have the same arches, and the cobblestone floor is the same

I really don't understand people can't comprehend that this is early in-development footage. When you look at a teaser like this, and you see the insane detail in the environments and then you look at the characters and you realise there are no facial animations, surely it clicks in your head instantly, that they haven't started on them yet...lol

Some gamers clearly have no idea what the fuck is going on in the playstation youtube comments. Kills me inside.

The way that Ryo just knocks Mr. Muscles down after protecting Shenhua and how he then fights him in that sunset scene makes me believe that it's some thug at first but he turns into a friend. You know, kinda like Goro, except that this guy actually has skills.

I have to say it now, I absolute love that training scene with the old man on the boats. Pure Shenmue and Kung-Fu movie essence and it's pretty damn well coreographed and animated.

Most developers simply don't share games at this stage, or they do bullshots/cgi, it's as simple as that.

Some of the stuff looks great, some of the stuff looks unfinished (like it is), but everything (except Shenhua) looks really promising.

It doesn't help that the edition of the video looked very amateurish (and that also exacerbates the new logo).

The criticism on neogaf is ridiculous. How can they be so critical about the faces when it's clear the facial animation hasn't been implemented here at all beyond some mouth movement?

They will eat their words upon release.

Some stuff is more developed than others ATM, and for better or worse, YSnet were honest with us by showing a trailer that really is WIP.

The music playing with the trailer was epic. I can't wait to see more! This game is going to be amazing. I don't have any complaints I'm grateful for anything they give us.
