cant be the same game. Ninja punishes you every chance it gets if you try to hack and slash.

An interesting editorial on those players criticising Dishonored's length.

Odd to think that those players taking the quickest path, then bitch about taking the quickest path. Perhaps it is Arkane Studio's fault to hype up the all guns blazing approach as a perfectly viable, non watered down way to play the game. Seeing as I'm a sneaky fucker who reloads a save if he fucks up a stealthy encounter anyway, I'll gladly take my time and explore.

Its Just how it is. Dark Souls can be finished in under 90 minutes, Skyrim in under 2 hours, Fable in under 3 and so on.

Never seen the appeal in rushing a game.

Got my copy today. Haven't played much but I will say this.

You can really fuck someone's day up with the pistol. In one really cool moment a guard ran toward me and out of instinct, I pulled the pistol as he drew close and I pulled the trigger. It kicked hard. The guard dropped dead straight away and above all else, it was loud. I was just standing there above the body afterwards kind of rooted in place because I wasn't expecting that.

I don't have a TV, console, or gaming PC anymore because I'm focused on training and school, but I've been watching some gameplay videos, and it really is an amalgamized homage to Thief and Deus Ex. And that is a jolly good thing indeed.

but stealth and superpowers is too much of an oxymoron for me...

Someone said it best: They miss the mechanics of Thief when playing dishonered but then they wouldn't miss the mechanics of dishonered when playing Thief.

Boom, i'm out.

Very cool game. I was going to go into it being a complete pacifist but I think I'd just be limiting myself from the first time experience in using the powers and weapons. I will go for a non lethal approach seeing as it gets the best ending, but if I have to, then I will use the lethal approach when it suits. If I feel like it, then I will play it again on a second playthrough and go for pure stealth/pacifism in order to set myself a real challenge (one of the achievements in the game even asks that you beat the game without using any powers at all)

Definately liking it so far, it's a very atmospheric game, and for a totalitarian, plague ridden, rat infested city, Dunwall is a wonderfully realised place. I like reading the notes around the environment, it builds up an interesting setting as well. Playing on Hard definately adds to the challenge, guards are more alert and you can die real quick in combat. So it's all good so far, having fun just messing around the levels right now, trying to explore every nook and cranny.

Also, the 4 hour completion time is completely not indicative of a normal player's experience. I've spent more than that on the tutorial/first mission already.
