iPhone numbers to gmail?

Dad has an iphone but is getting a Samsung tomorrow and was told it was easy to simply save all numbers to gmail so he can then transfer them to the new phone but I'm not seeing anything and Orange have been as unhelpful as ever when he spoke to them simply blaming Apple for making it hard to transfer numbers to other phones.

So should it be easy or is it a pain in the arse because its his work phone and he has a crap load of numbers on it.

How is that even possible to get the numbers on Gmail? That's baffling. Probably better off just accepting that Apple owns your life and to just get a new Iphone.

Download iContacts Pro+ its a free app for the iPhone. Supports google sync so when you switch over to android you simply have to log into gmail using the same account and it will download everything over.
