Shenmue 3 kikizo article

Postby Messiah » Thu Aug 15, 2013 10:42 am

A while back there was a kikizo article that asserted that Shenmue 3 was deep in development.

I was wondering if this has been brought up with yu in any interviews?

Or did this turn out to be complete bull?

I decided to venture back to this forum to check it out. I had given up hope on Shenmue 3, mainly because articles like this got my hopes up every time.

Oh well, here's hoping it will see the light of day someday.

Never quite understood why people don't realize that there is a possibility that this article could have been factual information at the time. Things do change every now and then, right? Things like time, weather, the seasons, your mood, and business decisions, like in a company like SEGA? G's.

I'll join you on playing Devil's Advocate here. Going back and reading Adam Doree's article and basing the facts that we do know now. It really doesn't seem to be that far fetched to think a version of Shenmue III would exist without Yu Suzuki's involvement. Suzuki himself has confirmed that the story is entirely done, which we already knew. I'm still of the belief that if Shenmue was completed all the way up to the end of II on the Sega Saturn, there's every bit of reason to think that III exists in some type of game form.

While there's no way to officially confirm if Shenmue III was prepared for next gen consoles, I do think if one had access to Sega AM2's vault, they would be surprised at what they see. After all, no one knew that Shenmue even existed as far back as the Sega Saturn until Sega themselves decided to reveal it.

Can't believe it has been that long since that article set the board on fire. I will say I remember many of the veterans on this site and newcomers alike buying into the hype. I found the whole circumstance surronding it highly questionable at the time and I was the kind of person who would buy in to most any gaming related rumor when I was 16, but even then I never felt like this whole thing had a very strong leg to stand on. It sure has been a strange journey on this message board. I guess it's nice to look back on these type of things, because even incomplete these stories do reveal a history of our time here. I find it nice to reflect even if the end result didn't meet our expectations.

I always read that kikizo article of Shenmue 3 ready for next gen. What I don't understand is if the game was near complete like the article says what is holding them back from finishing the game and release it.
