Games You Typically Stay Away From?

Yeah, Modern Warfare 1 was class. Multiplayer was amazing. Same for Halo 1 (multiplayer with friends was so fun/funny, the best split screen FPS multiplayer experience, ever). The campaigns in both games are classic too, the design for them was just right. Alas, both series faltered in quality since then, but the first games in each series are legitimately great games.

Simulators don't make good games however I do have a copy of a London underground simulator for 2 reasons:
The level of realism is surreal.
DirectX 3D ripping software has never made me so happy

I typically stay away from....*giggle*.. movie-to-game spinoffs, or even tv series games. They always suck. As a child I would foolishly sometimes get the game for my favorite moviesshows. The only exceptions were, believe it or not, Popeye for the GB and Ghost Busters (puzzle game) for the GB. Those 2 games were not tied to the show and were long and addictive games.

I also don't like gunplay. I'm a purist which is the reason I joined this and many other Shenmue petition sites. Unfortunately, guns are being shoved into every characters hands now. That's the reason I would love a Shenmue 3 to be released.

^i remember enjoying the bugs life game when i was a kid. I had ridiculously low standards back then so don't know if it was because it was actually good. The warriors is supposed to be a good game too though

True. I forgot about the Warriors. Never played it personally, but I kept hearing good things about it. I may get it. Naruto, other than a couple of the fighting games, is a good example. As a fan of the 2million episode long show, I can't really like the open adventure game that does a shallow coverage of a few episodes that mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of the show. And a lot of movies do that with their games. Lately, from GI Joe to Catwoman, a lot of movies have been working in tangent with development companies and squeezing out game versions of the movie within days of the movies launch- I guess for sales. The games will look shiny and good, but have absolutely not substance or playability.

At the moment probably FPS games. Last one I bought was Halo 4.

I would heartily recommend The Warriors. I hadn't even watched the film when I started playing it. Great game in its own right.

Haha, yeah The Warriors game is ace. One of the best movie games ever. I remember playing that every night for a whole week while stoned out of my mind at a friend's house. I don't advocate drug use, but that is a fun game to play stoned.

I loved The Warriors. I was already a big fan of the movie and it lived up to the potential. Rockstar even got the old gang back to voice all of their characters in the movies and expanded upon the scenario of the movie in cool ways (the new gangs added to the game were actually gangs that were dropped from the movie, due to budget reasons). It was really satisfying beating other gang members to a bloody pulp and since I really have an undying love for beat 'em ups, it was really fun to play.
