Reflect on 2014; State goals for 2015

We had this thread last year so I thought it would be a good idea for us to look back and see if any of us followed through with what we wanted to do. If you posted last time check up on yourself from a year ago and then make a statement for next year's you to see.

Here's my post from last year with comments from current me in bold.

Start writing something everyday. At least one letter. ----Didn't really do much on this and I think I found out I hate writing so I'm dropping this one in 2015.
Start composing something everyday. At least one note. ----Did pretty good on this. At least for my Lazy ass.
Maintain my pace of 1 - 3 hours of Japanese TV everyday. -----Did a little too good on this one. I'm not even gonna bother making it a goal next year since it's just a given habit at this point.
Finish my book backlog. ----Done, but I've bought more since then.
Watch more movies. -----Eh, I watched some, but not a noteworthy amount. Certainly not as many as some of youse here.
Get more foreign language speaking practice on Skype. -----Another one I barely even tried to follow through on. Fuck that shit.
Go out to more live shows. --- I went to like one show total.
Hit some full voice A4s that don't sound like shit. -----Getting there. I can do G4s pretty good now, but A's and G#s are taking some time.
Discover some new artists. -----I think I did. Don't really remember what I didn't know about last year, though.
Eat some weird shit just for the hell of it. -----Definitely made no effort to do this

New goals:
Keep writing, music that is. More completely new songs more frequently you blockhead.
Record & Post some of this brilliant music for the masses to consume on the internet.
Finish book backlog. New year new books baby.
Try the movie thing again.
Continue practicing the high notes. G# and A being the main targets.
Maybe buy a new keyboard. Maybe.
Aiming a bit high here so I may fall on my face, but: achieve 9000 flashcards in my main deck.
Get some IRL language level ups. And maybe some skype ones too.
Don't start any new language projects that peter out into nothing.
Last year I only went to one show so this year......Go to 2 shows!

Looking back at that thread from last year, looks like I accomplished all my goals actually.

-My kanji is at around 300 characters with it growing steady through writing each one over 100 times. My speaking+comprehension has ofcourse tripled in coming back and being forced into it.

-I did loose about 15 pounds! Through my now different diet and all the walking I do now, I didnt even have to work for it.

-I am saving money more responsibly now that I have spent so much rebuilding my life here. What a shit ton this move cost me. When you're married and do it, its a whole other ball game.


For next year my goals are actually the same exact thing.
-Mo Kanji Mo Kanji
-Loose mo weight
-Save mo money

I accomplished a lot in 2014 but in the process neglected everyday normal activities. so my goals will be small this year

-visit my family more
-get a consistent workout going
-go somewhere I've never been
-find a new weed guy
-try get my Linux knowledge to match what I know about Windows
-all in all just try to better myself and not be complacent

Want to actually annoy someo-wait a minute. You mother fucker.

Seriously though. I just want to throw order and the rules and reason to the wind and just bust loose as of late. Looking back even here on the dojo in my moderator days I wanted to do the best job possible, but I was wrapped up so tight that I think I was probably more stringent than I needed to be. Over the past few years I've begun to loosen up (ever so slightly!) and can relax more, often taking a softer and gentler approach to people and situations in my day to day life.

I spent many sheltered years away from people, in part because the feelings of living a lie were so intense that I rarely ventured out sans for necessity. My social skills as a result have been weak and it's only in the past couple years when I've begun to feel like my real self that I've been able to actually go out and develop them. Going into the new year however it ever remains a work in progress. There's always room to improve.

I had a great 2014. I really just want to keep doing what I did last year. Get my financials in order more, get some RRSP's set up, etc so I can retire sometime in my life. But yeah, I'm quite happy with where I am in life right now

-Get the #SaveShenmue campaign to the next level.
-Get into the top 10 DDR players in the Western Hemisphere (Im currently in the top 30)
-Lose some weight, im 5 foot 9, 190 pounds.

6. Start working out again. (Didn't)
7. Get that arm tattoo. (No time nor money)


New goals:

1. Make shit happen.
2. Repeat step 1 until shit happens.

2014 was a wild ride for me. Found love, lost love. Quit my job, ending my current career. Backpacked a lot. Learned quite a bit about myself.

In 2015 I would like to get back down to my sexy, efficient self, but that is not a priority. I would like to finish some projects I have been working on, and perhaps meet up with some old friends. Starting my own business would be nice as well. Main goal would be to finish my current project, which is a f-35b-like UAV.

goal for 2015: get new job that isn't terrible and keep it longer than a couple months instead of rage quitting

In 2014 a lot changed. Finally got into the career path that I wanted which is now radically different from what I was used to. My brother got seriously ill and a close family member got admitted into a nursing home. Also, in my new job I basically had to pick things up very quickly and now actually train two work colleagues in the workplace [doing the manager's jobs for them, since they weren't helping]. A lot of responsibility got put onto me very quickly in all areas of my life and honestly the latter half of last year went by so quickly because of all of these things going on that I never had chance to reflect on...anything. Things have slowed down considerably just the past few days though.

I suppose my main goal for this year will be to pursue actually getting into a romantic relationship since last year was just chaotic and fleeting. Lots of ups and downs. Also, I'm going to create some music in my spare time, hopefully by the end of the year I'll be releasing some of it on Bandcamp.
