These are the highlights

-A game room that may become an arcade is included in the stretch goals
-scrolls that allow you to directly master new moves will be obtainable through gambling and sidequests
-E3 trailer was gameplay footage and not a film
-There will be a conference named MAGIC on the 27th of February where they will reveal a lot more about shenmue 3 so remember to tune in on that date

my hope is that if we don't reach the hidden stretch goal the two additional areas are still included, i don't see how you can still tell the same story while cutting out locations. So i hope the goals follow the same premise as the 3-4 million ones and we will still get those locations, just won't be as big as they could have been. It would be strange to only have one location to explore (with the 2 others possibility only told through cut scenes?)

oh and a progress update on the hourly pledge rate, as predicted it has already halved again to around $5733 an hour. (down from yesterday's 10k an hour). I'm hoping that's just because it was night time in the EU region (mostly) and people were asleep but today will reveal if that's the case.)

I don't know why, but I don't want to know the in depth stats. You will drive yourself insane for the next month by doing that.

You literally don't know what can happen. A celebrity Shenmue fan or a rich fan could donate 1 million privately. Or Srga could have funded something privately. Anything is possible. From a fans standpoint whatever that Kickstarter says it's raised, it will never be enough for us to be happy. I thought 4 million would have been good, but now I am way off.

The game will be what it was meant to be. My advice would be to just chill out and enjoy the next month to see the total continually rise and watch it go a bit nuts again at the end.

But I think they're not counting actual "days" of the kickstarter but real days.

There's always a very big push last day, but probably the 5k per day will decrease :(

I'll keep pushing to get people interested, and put as much as I can feasibly offer in to the kickstarter. But it may definitely end up being a situation where being satisfied by the story is all that matters. Because if, as they say on that last update, there is a lot more Exploration/Game System Stretch Goals, those just may not be possible to meet. Especially with the toxicity of forums, comment sections, and message boards tearing apart everything you say.

Holy crap, what a week!!!
Like many of you, I used to be a member here, but I lost interest when it became clear that Shenmue 3 wasn't going to come out. For me, this really came out of the blue: I mostly buy older games nowadays, so I don't even follow E3 very closely anymore.

So when I saw the Shenmue 3 kickstarter news on IGN, I literally felt my heart stop for a second. My first reaction was to ask myself whether I was dreaming... Then I started reading and literally had to start fighting back the tears of joys... They came out anyway when I started watching the video. lol!

My wife is really excited, too: even though she doesn't play games, she watched me play Shenmue many times over the years, and knows the story as well as any Shenmue fan. I'll be honest, in the last couple of years, whenever I played until the end of Shenmue 2, I felt depressed, like it was giving me a small taste of Shenmue 3, something I KNEW I would never have. I had accepted that as fact, and moved on. As a result, I haven't played it in a while.

But then this week happened. For me, it was like finding out my best friend was alive after years of thinking he was dead. Shenmue is the original reason why I moved to japan after college, and still live there now. It's not an exaggeration to say that my life would have been completely different without it.

As for the KS, don't give up hope! I'm planning on making my donation over the week end, and I'm sure there are many fans who are just taking their time (we still have 1 month, after all). There are probably some who haven't even heard the news yet! Let's all make sure we do our best to spread the word and make this the best game it can possibly be!

Do we know the demographics of the kickstarter ??

Like, how are japanese people reacting to it ?? Are there chinese people ??

Shenmue Online was supposed to market the chinese market, probably they should give a call to Mao or something to promote the KS
