What would you want changed for a Shenmue HD?

Even putting aside the skill of the actors, playing Shenmue 1 in Japanese really makes the game a lot more immersive and realistic. The first time I played it in Japanese, I was amazed that all the characters in the game spoke with the accents of their country of origin. The Chinese people really have a chinese accent, westerners speak broken Japanese (Tom especially, he comes off totally different in the Japanese version) and some people even tell you they can't help you because they don't speak Japanese (this was changed in the English version.

I find it sad that Shenmue 1 never had a proper subtitled version with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles. I get that people should be able to select English if they want to, but there really should have an option for both. Surely the Dreamcast disc size played a role in not having that option, but nowadays there's no reason not to have both.

You know the game was modded to both be undubed for 1, and dubbed for part 2 using the Xboxs speech files? So we actually do have a choice.

Lets just hope with modern advancements in disc size we get both options to please all fans. I mean its confirmed they are doing English and Japanese so why not just simply include them both in all versions on PC and PS4?

Oh, yeah, I know, but what I mean is that you have to go through hoops to play those, and it's more of a hassle than just buying them. Still a great effort from the fans though.
As for Shenmue 3, it's kinda moot for me since I already speak Japanese, so I'll probably just get the Japanese version. But I know that lots of fans who aren't fluent would love to have a subtitled option. 10 years ago I was one of those fans.

From the games nothing, i just unify some options to the same in both games and expand Passport/Minigames collection to both games

- Shenmue 2 Inventory/UI in Shenmue 1
- Casettes in Shenmue 2, and the option to listen it while walking
- Traning in Shenmue 2
- Shenmue Passport content in Shenmue 2, everything offline, the only thing should need online connection its the world rankings
- Shenmue Minigames Collection from 2 in Shenmue 1
- Chapter 2
- Dual audio
- Update controls, i cant play a 3D game with the D-pad anymore. I am replaying Shenmue 1 in NullDC mapping the 360 Analog Pad to be the DPad
- I really dont care about save anywhere in Shenmue 1, i like to go back to the dojo

I would like the option to have both voice tracks, and all subtitles available in one version of the game. The Shenmue Collection! Other than that, I'd love to see the Passport get revived, and have both games remain pretty much untouched besides in HD.

All I want is the two games with English dub, wide-screen presentation, and HD resolutions. Give me that, on a physical disc and I'll be happy.

The cassette player should return... but it should NOT be able to be played while we're actually playing the game!

apart from a true texture replacement for 1080 progressive scan displays (not upscaled, that's a cop-out) just NOTHING.
absolutely nothing.
if it deviates from the playability one iota, it's isn't shenmue in my books.

I suppose time skip and save anywhere would be good for new fans but I wouldn't use either of them. I like how Shenmue forces you to be patient and absorb the world around you and that includes an inability to skip time. I also like how you can only save at your home, it makes your home feel like a safe place and it's almost like resting how you always load up in your bedroom instead of the middle of a street.
I would like the option to choose Japanese or English dub though.

So you think Shenmue should have the option of changing the background music at any time?

I think you should be able to change it only to a cassette you've purchased/located in game, and only during the free quest not cinematics or scripted events

Only thing I could ask for are refined controls since walking/running speed based on how hard the trigger is held feels a little dated compared to what we have now.
