When Sega inevitably announces the HD remasters...

When Sega inevitably announces the HD remasters...

Postby Shenhua-Nani? » Sat Jul 18, 2015 4:14 am

How about we discuss and decide the MUST HAVE features the inevitable Shen 1&2 collection will have to include, and then mass spam Sega requesting them?

You know, stuff like trophies, time skip anywhere and whenever, saving anywhere? i feel if we don't bombard them with these simple but effective ideas they will release a lazy port that will do more harm than good to Shenmue...

Saving anywhere is a must for Shenmue I

I can't remember how many times my dreamcast froze.

I would like the Lmove map for shenmue II.

There are a lot of ideas in this forum, and this has been talked a lot, but it's hard to say what can be done, if this is just an emulation wrap, a port or "kinda remake"

They should still have the textures, so that is also a must

Playing shenmue with the high res textures would be a really good start.

It will come, it's inevitable.

Our mission is to ensure that it won't be a straight port with updated graphics! :D

Exactly, they will avoid it. Some sense must be put in them.

Agreed.
But is Sega still Sega since Sammy bought the company?
I wonder what kind of budget are we talking about? I wish some journalist asked the guys from Spain who already did port old Sega games on HD how much it cost.

Sega is not showing any form of caress for Shenmue's neck.

Inevitable? We should be glad if we get a straight up no frills port of the original games, with nothing added. I guess they would even be stupid enough not to make the Shenmue HD save stat compatible with Shenmue 3.

Come on, this is SEGA, we're talking about. They're like the Goro Mihashi of video game companies.

I'd like for them to do what 343 did with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary where you could switch between old and new graphics on-the-fly.

Don't get my hopes up.

You've already got my hopes up.

I'm calling it, Shenmue HD - @Tokyo Game Show 2015 Sega

Our success with the Kickstarter will get us HD within the development time.

I would be glad if they released the remaster with both the japanese and english subtitles. Like others said the original textures would improve the look of the game. I would also love some improvements in the models of the main characters.

But i just can't envision any of this happening. We'll probably get a bare bones nulldc emulation quality port.

I doubt Shenmue 1&2 HD is a big announcement for Sega. Its just a small blog announcement like their previous small releases.

Just reconsider what "HD remaster" means.
