This Thursday, September 3rd, the
#SaveShenmueHD Tweetathon continues the monthly tradition of Shenmue fans campaigning for the ultimate revival of Yu Suzuki's classic franchise.
The announcement in June of a new sequel has created a rush of demand for the original games, causing a
spike in second hand sales of the Dreamcast console. As the machine is long out of production and the first two Shenmue titles have never been re-released in any fashion for contemporary hardware, Sega is not seeing one red cent of this surge in popularity for the games it lost millions on producing back in the Nineties.
Gamers young and old, who want to relive the first chapters or discover for the first time what all the hype is about, are having to resort to preowned, ageing systems to get their fix of Shenmue before number III hits in late 2017. Sega is both making it harder for everybody and leaving cash on the table by not supplying Shenmue 1 & 2 HD on modern platforms.
This Thursday, spread the word and be heard on the 3rd to #SaveShenmueHD!
