I find the chances of Sony going all out on 4k for gaming pretty slim but even the thought of it scares me...

4k is the future but not viable right now. If Sony put 4k in the PS4 it will be another disaster of a 600-700$ console and they would be losing even more money on it. 4k TV's right now cost 20 grand. Can buy a car with that.

They are always making tech demos that have little to do with their actual games. Making a tech demo is nothing like making an actual game. 4K in console games? Maybe in 10 years, for (theoretical) PS5. It doesn't matter that PS4 can (again, theoretically) run 4K because gaming can't handle 1080p properly at the moment. 4K in actual games is currently unattainable from both the budget and the hardware perspective.

All honesty? I see Epic losing more with him leaving than anything else.

Maybe it's nothing but he said this not that long ago: 'One of the options I've thought of was what if I left Epic right now, and became a consultant to help Japanese developers make games that are more Western-friendly -- not only from an IP perspective, but also from the game mechanics and features perspective. I could seriously have a very healthy consulting gig doing that, right?'
