While this design doesn't look liek Robocop to me, I'm willing to gave it the benefit of the doubt. I agree that this doesn't look like the original, but rather something out of Mass Effect or the Iron Man movies, but I want to see it in motion. See, the key point of the original Robocop was that he was pretty much a quadriplegin encased in an armored shell, he moved slowly and mechanicly because every neural signal had to be translated into something the machine could comprehend, and the reverse was also true, every sensory signal had to be translated for his brain to process. If this part is respected I can work around the design but, if I see even a hint of the Wachowski brothers in how he moves the entire movie won't be any good to me.

I did enjoy Elite Squad, done by the director, and I think he can make a good Robocop movie. I think it is ridiculous to expect the same movie as the original as much as I love it. Nothing can live up to it. Yes, it is Robocop, but I feel we need to see something new. Technology and politics and the economy have changed since then and Robocop at the same time has always been about satire. I think with today's situation, the new Robocop can address that.
During the 1980s, we had bigger machines that could handle less and work slowly. Today, machines are slimmer and smaller and more efficient and I think the design of the new Robocop is a good reflection of that. I don't expect it to be as good as the original, but I do look forward to it.
And I hope to God that this movie be rated R. Sadly, studios have lost their balls and are less willing to do rated R movies unless it is Kick-Ass or something.
