It's starting to approach the time of year where it's acceptable to play Shenmue again. If you play Shenmue 1 in the summer or spring, or even early autumn, you better not let me hear about that blasphemy. Anyway, it would be nice to have a relaxed and slow paced playthrough of the game, and by the end of it I hopefully will no longer be the shame of the dojo

Very good theory, I could definitely see something along those lines happening.

Just finished Shenmue II the other day again. 1st time in 2 years and each time I play, the Shenhua thing just gets more blatantly obvious and weird. The dandelion scene where she makes them levitate and every damn hint she gives about being from another time period. I do wish Ryo would mention the random dreams he had of her. Maybe Shenmue III will explain all of this..

Is it just me or does it seem like they really should have combined Shenmue I and II? After playing Shenmue II it feels so short and linear.

I think he should mention her image on snacks and audio tapes.

Just found out today off somebody that the lead programmer for Shenmue and systems designer for Shenmue 2, Tak Hirai (also worked on Space Channel 5 as lead programmer) was the project lead on this game, just thought people might want to know what this incredible member of the Shenmue team (one of SEGA's best programmers, ever?) is up to these days

On days I just had a crazy thought about what a sly asses Sega is.
I mean really.
They providently used an instrument, called licensing, to protect all the content, connected to a Shenmue somehow with a licence. By this action they just moved out of the road all possible competitors, and reserved by themselves an exclusive right to do something by this licence or even to do something.
Let's just assume that in a world an idea of "licence" just disappear to be existent.
Immediately, hundreds of companies would receive a right to rival on the market for releasing the best product on the given content\conception. Well, of course, that not directly means that in a short time we'll receive a worthy product, but... as a customers, we vote by a dollar (by paying money), isn't it? It's a simple market rule...
I mean, licences, for all the time, was used just to restrict other, non privileged by some shit-ass authorities, companies from entering the market and start making a sell-able product. Same like quota's, customs taxes for foreign merchandise, excises in tobacco and alcohol industry...
Demand creates supply... if licences weren't existed, even we would be able to work on projects, related to Shenmue, absolutely legally, without any fear to be punished or prosecuted by the administering organs or power representatives.

I know that I'm stating the obvious here, but I haven't touched Shenmue 2 since 2008, so it's kind of jarring.
