I must say that Abrams is a pretty special guy, before now I couldnt think of a man that could direct Star Trek and Star Wars with out fans declaring it as some sort of sacrilege, its still a little hard to get used to as a fan of both. But I think this Abrams fellow might actually be able to pull it off, making quality movies from both franchises. Hell, from what i am hearing some people even believe that this star wars has the potential to be best one ever made and while I wont rule out the possibility, my inner star wars fan thinks thats going to be a tall task.

At this point, I need story elements... "the force awakens" huh? Maybe the gods of the star wars universe play a part? Maybe we get philosophical insight and back story/origin to the force itself and maybe it goes into more detail of the force, that would be cool. What kinds of secrets do you think could be revealed that we are not currently aware of? I would love to see some questions like that answered.

I dunno, I'm not sure I want anything else to be revealed about the force itself. Try to explain things too much and it ends up just being kinda dumb.
Midichlorians, anyone?

I kind of thought the title was more of a reference to a renewed rise in Jedi/Sith. In the original trilogy, almost no one in the universe uses the force outside of Vader, the Emporor, Ben Kenobi, and maybe Yoda every now and then; therefore, it could be said that it's kind of dormant, or "asleep." The popular idea has always seemed like it would be that Luke begins training others in the force after RotJ, so that would lead to, y'know... the force awakening. Or reawakening, rather.
That would be my guess.

This.

Star Wars, at it's heart, was modern mythology for the American psyche. Much like how Lord of the Rings was a piece of modern mythology for the English psyche (whom Tolkien saw as lacking their own mythology). When you over explain things in myth, the metaphors lose their powers.

Plus, and arguably most importantly, it loses its interpretative character, which entails identification

Only Anthony Daniels has said that it it may be better than Empire. Even then, I'm highly skeptical of this. The little things that I know like JJ giving the original three more screentime after he came on board (rather than devote that time to the new cast) already screamed "fan service" to me.

It'll probably be an enjoyable film but i'm also expecting it to be a bunch of fan fiction nonsense.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that OL, after anakin attacked the jedi temple and more or less single handly brought down the jedi in one fell swoop (even then the sith were already dying out and was their last ditch effort to revive or atleast be on level playing ground as the jedi). I could see the sub title meaning like the re-discovery of the force and the jedi and sith assembling in decent numbers again, although wasnt the prophecy that luke was a part of supposed to bring balance to the force permanently? As in be the end of the fighting?

I am fairly optimistic at the very least this will be a better film than the prequel trilogy combined. I'm not sure if it will surpass the original trilogy, its entirely possible, but if not it will be the first genuinely good Star Wars film since VI and I would be satisfied with that alone.

Hate to beat a a dead horse over a petty, non-existent issue but:

THIS makes much more sense. It'd be badass too if the hilt where to "pop out" from the sides before igniting. This looks much more practical for a madeup glorified space toy.

It wasnt complete, no jar jar haha. I saw that the other day, the "trade negotiations" line

So generally speaking, do you think fans are happier now that George Lucas is done making these films? I mean he is some kind of consultant on the project for obvious reasons, but im really stumped if its better with him in or out on making major contributions. After Episodes I-III though... :-({|=

Yep. We will actually get films now instead of wondering why they haven't been made.

Personally this trailer really didn't do too much for me honestly. Like, I'm not really a fan of the Millenium Falcon and such and I know that was the high point of the trailer for most Star Wars fans. I'm glad we got to see what one of the Sith lords looks like and I think it's cool they gave him a lightsaber you only see or hear about in the expanded universe, but I would have liked to get a glimpse of Luke or something more than anything >.>

The way the movie industry is these days by the time the movie comes out we'll have 40 trailers with probably all the best content spoiled.
