more shenmue bloopers

in thought id bring back one of my topics from the first forum.

you guys start with some bloopers cuz im too lazy to type mine right now.

remember the bloopers could be from Shenmue 1 or Shenmue 2.

I seem to remember the bartender guy in the heartbeats bar (in shenmue1) Saying "welcome" in one voice then saying "there ya go! Milks good for a school boy!" in a very differnt voice. He then laughs in his first voice. That can be seen again when Ryo gets Nozomi back from Terry. The line about how ryo's got some screws loose. It looks kind of weird. In the movie that comes with shenmue 2 for the xbox you see these flaws like crazy! Also, in shenmue 2 well I think we all know what kind of person Yuan REALLY is but the dialog and voice was changed to cover this up. What I think the blooper is (at least in the dreamcast import) when your looking for yuan in disc 3 somone asks you to describe her and you say "Looks like a women..." that is what I belive was part of a rather infamous quote that was taken out but even the cut down line would still seem to indicate that the person in question was NOT a woman. No foolin'.
And lastly, I don't know what to make of Zhu's name... In the first game Chen speaks of him with Zhu first and the Yuanda second. (sounds like zhu-leeanda almost as one word) But the two parts are reversed in 2. I think in Japanese culture the last name is pronouced first with the first name second. Thats how it was read it the subtitles so I'm guessing while they dubbed 2 they thought it was the other way around from how it's pronouned in 1 and had "Yuanda Zhu" thoughout 2. Although it's hard to imagine they would miss somthing that big...

And yeah, I know what you mean about the voices. I think that was actually supposed to be Jones(the bald, bearded sailor sitting at the counter) saying "Milk's perfect for a schoolboy I'd say!", but it came out kinda wrong..it certainly sounds like his voice anyhow.

Well, Miles, Japanese does do the same thing - remember in Japanese Ryo always named himself as "Hazuki Ryo-da"

I always interpreted the bar scene as the bearded guy saying "Milk's perfect..." etc, not the barman, while accepting that it does look a bit odd.

Talk of voice chagnes, although this is in Shenmue IIx - when you fight the Wild Man of the Mountains, the MC goes "Readdddddyyyyy!" And then a completely different voice, sounding remarkably like Homer Simpson shouts, "Go!"

Yeah, that's true. Do you have to end a "da" at the end if their name only has one syllable?

Anyway, from shenmue 2 -
During the first Chawan sign event, ryo gets a note saying 'kom et th kuneaver dest hoose'
Confused, Ryo tries the same place again, and gets 'gae te moman pacre'
Ryo gives it one more go and gets a note which begins 'sorry about before. we fired the dyslexic guy...

I thought it was comical when the lady at the Tomato Convenience Store *Forgot her name * says when you lose a raffle: "Especially since you bought merchandise" or when Ryo has essentially an orgasm when drinking cola. I am glad they fixed this in Shenmue II
