If Shen III gets canned, would you read the 16-chapter book?

Yu Suzuki has a lot of power. But everything is ultimately up to the corporate suit-and-tie bigwigs who only look at sales numbers and the bottom line.

Should the final answer on the Shenmue saga be a big fat "NO - IT WILL NEVER CARRY ON" from Sega, would you ever purchase and read it's possible substitute: A 16-Chapter novel written by Suzuki to at least tell his story?

Or would the entire feeling of Shenmue be lost if it's not in an interactive F.R.E.E. environment?

Personally, if the final answer was no, then I would definitely snatch up a book and read it if one ever came out. Disappointing and sad, but I'm sure the storytelling would be much more interesting and detailed than some of the dialogue in the games. I think it would be a great read.

EDIT: I know some people hate N00bs, but I'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked. If so, please feel free to pelt me with your least favorite capsule toys.

This will sound so stupid to some of you cos a shenmue fan shouldnt say this but hopefully some will agree with me. I've clicked no and this is from my point of view now but if it actually happened I'd most likely change my mind , but speaking at the moment I wouldnt. I hate reading novels and get nothing out of them. Not cos i'm a dunce, I swear to u all, I got an A at english lit, but a novel couldnt do shenmue justice. It would ruin the overal story for me, you have to see, play, feel it, not read it. Some ppl say how books are better than films etc but i cant really say how anyone can say such a thing. I'd leave it in my mind as great memories and finish the story in my head lol than rather read a whooping book.

I would take anything Shenmue related if the series was discontinued, rather begrudgingly of course. Even if Shenmue III is released, I hope there is some supplement material released because if indeed Shenmue III is the last game I have a had time believing Yu Suzuki will be able to cram in all his planned material and ultimately cuts/edits will have to be made :(

It would be nice if Shenmue III maybe came packaged with a DVD- a series of anmie stories entailing the missing material, or a CG movie. Either way some medium to tell the Shenmue story.

if they don't make the game they should at least make it a movie of some sort. But if it was a book then I would be perfectly fine with it since it's a Shenmue book

Same here. If Shenmue III is canned, a CG movie would be second best. If we couldn't have that, we should at least have a detailed book, with pictures. Anything would be better than to be left hanging and forever wondering how it ended. What a nightmare that would be.
