I dont know if its feesable, but i was wondering if it would be a good idea to send a courtesy email to everyone who registered with the Dojo informing them of the new upgrades and rebirth of the Dojo. A lot of members may have not visited the Dojo in years, forgetting about the game entirely as they went on with their lives. Some may not even know Ryo was in a game not so long ago, and even though they may never have thought about Shenmue since, they may want to return and post again. Just an idea which i dont know if it could work, but if the objectve of all this is to get the Dojo active again, it could be worth it to attract old members back to the boards. I mean there is almost 5000 members on these boards and id say that not even 100 regularly post! Surely there are fans out there that wold be interested in this place again, especially with the new gallery!

^That''s not really a flaw just the email would reach less people then Peter thought. Could still bring back 2 or 3 old members, I think it's a good idea if it can be done. If not Peter your to go through evrey profile and send emails to them people.

In all honesty I think just getting a fresh start people will flock in anyway,kinda the whole point to this SD reboot.
People will come. I mean look we got over 600 people old and new and forgotten faces just with the reboot alone. In time as more news hopefully comes more will come natrually.
And besides you would have to do that manually person by person assuming everyone still has the same email.
I still have not changed the one in my profile that I have not used in 6 years.

I still think if it can be done its worth it. If you can simply send to all it's not exactly going to be hugely time consuming.

Most would probably delete it due to it going directly to their spam/junk folders anyway.

Again it has to be done by hand. MANUALLY. That would be mass amounts of time. Plus as mentioned just assuming every email is legit(many times people used to just put random fake ones to join for example [email protected] and at one point all it took to join.

If you want to try it you do it member by member.

Ahhhh so there were 2 things i didnt know before i made this topic:


1. The majority of the 5000 accounts are not real
2. You cannot have a "send to all" email option (even as staff)

Really? Thats cool, il ask him! I just think at this stage, anything we can do to get members (old and new) in here should be done. Its a crime on you guys putting in all this work and over the next lot of months watch the activity on the boards dwindle to about 10 members posting on a regular basis you know?

Which I thought was kind of unusual. Aside from the look, management change and a few new rules it really hasn't changed to me.

Well ive PMed Yama to see what he thinks. Its just an idea, i mean i can think of 20 names right now off the top of m head (actually 2 or 3 have posted lately) who i would like to hear about what they are getting up to, and their ideas and views on both Shenmue in the modern day and this new revamped site.


Or maybe on another tangent, instead of just sending out a courtesy email perhaps start up a Shenmue Dojo newsletter say to be posted out every quarter? Or perhaps a Shenmue Dojo podcast? Any sort of ideas, particularly fan participation ideas are what im getting at....

A dojo podcast would be quite awful if it was focused just on Shenmue not enough news.
