OL wrote: Just finished Remember Me. Excellent ending. I absolutely love that they didn't shoehorn in a more "open" conclusion to make way for sequels (which you might expect initially, since it's published by Capcom and all). Pretty much everything gets wrapped up in such a way that it doesn't feel like we need more. Granted, a sequel would be nice, and it is possible, but it's not completely necessary.
I think, obviously, the real strength of the game is in its aesthetics. There really isn't a weak link in that regard at all. The visuals are absolutely gorgeous (even though it uses the Unreal engine, which I've never seen as being particularly solid), the music is easily some of my favorite from the past generation, and the story is original and genuinely interesting (despite a moment or two of lag here and there).
The gameplay has its faults, but it's nothing all too bad. By the end, everything almost feels a little too simple, and that's probably the only strike I can hold against it. It's such a subjective strike, though, that it's hard for me to be all too bothered by it. The entire game is basically a beat-em-up with some Uncharted/Assassin's Creed/Prince of Persia-style traversal. It's all very linear, which is mainly disappointing just because the game world is so damn beautiful, you get the urge to explore it more fully.
I do, however, feel as if -- considering the nature of the main character's "job" -- the game would have benefited from some focused stealth sequences. It seems like it would have been more natural for a character like this to be sneaking into places, rather than climbing around and getting into ruckus-y fights one after the other.
Either way, I'm frankly a little shocked that apparently so few people latched on to the game. There seemed to be so much fan outcry for games like Nier and Deadly Premonition and Mirror's Edge when some critics failed to see them for their apparent merits; why is this one any different? It's a completely new IP from a new dev studio, doing all that it can with what was likely a "modest-at-best" budget, and ending up with something fun-to-play and beautiful to look at and listen to. I always thought this was the kind of thing that "cult" gamers tend to get completely giddy over... so what's the deal?

Came back to get your opinion on this game since its just been announced for EU PlayStation Plus alongside Metal Gear Revengeance.

Slowly but surely going through the MGS Legacy Collection.

So far, MGS1 and MSG3 are still fucking fantastic and MGS2 is still kinda shit. Never played Peace Walker so I can't wait to get to that.

Played a little ways into King's Field last night.
Spiritual predecessor to Demon's/Dark Souls?
You bet your ass.
Actually, I'd argue that it's more brutal than either of those in most ways. Being as old as it is, it isn't quite as user-friendly as the Souls games. There are no item descriptions, you aren't told at all what to do, and it takes place in one big labyrinthine maze with no map or anything. No hand-holding here.
But the great thing is, it still has that oppressive, claustrophobic feel that helps make the Souls games so appealing, even if the graphics in King's Field are pretty sub-standard, even for a PS1 game. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it (I'll play as long as I can, but Batman and AC4 are out soon), but it really has put that dungeon-crawling taste back in my mouth. Again.
Can't wait for Dark Souls 2.

I'm playing The Incredible Hulk on Xbox 360. I love that game. It's holding me over until I can get some more stuff. I didn't realize how many games I sold. Kinda mad mainly at the Gamecube games I sold, because those are the most expensive and difficult to get back. I need FE: Path of Radiance and a few others.

Had to return Bayonetta since I just wasn't interested in playing it after awhile, it's a good game and all but maybe later. Heavenly Sword was pretty terrible on the other hand, got rid of it after the horrific crossbow mission and the canon firing missions. What a waste of time that was.

Getting Saw II: Flesh & Blood soon. A decent enough game based on the demo I played ages ago, but hopefully it's a decent game too overall since i'm a fan of the films.

Just grabbed up Arkham Origins, so I'm starting in on that. Installing now.
I just hope there's an option to turn hints off. I very quickly watched the beginning of a video of the Deathstroke fight last night, and the whole thing was epic as hell... except for the fact that little instructions kept popping up about when to counter/dodge/whatever. Really takes something away from it, so with any luck I'll be able to turn that shit off.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can do that in AC, but they tend to pop up if you start fucking up. Not that I ever fucked up, I've just seen other people play it.

I was able to turn them off... but it also turns all prompts off as well (meaning no counter signals).
Fucking hell. Those should be two separate options.
Oh well, the game is still feeling solid and fun anyway.

The fact Ace Attorney 5 came out 1 day before Batman meant I couldn't hold out and have put Batman on the back burner. The rate I play Ace Attorney games though I'll probabley be done by Tuesday or Wednesday and start Batman.

Currently running through SMT3 again and finding lots of stuff I didn't notice before. I'm glad I haven't YouTubed the other endings either, since I'm going for another ending this playthrough, dunno which one I'll opt for yet.

Also been playing Stand Alone Complex, Soul Hackers and Dragon's Crown. Solid games, one and all.

Oh yeah and been messing around on Dead or Alive 5 (free on PS+). Fun game, the game plays more like the Tekken series than I remember.

Sam & Max season 1.

After having finished a couple episodes I have to say this game is pretty boring. The characters are kinda funny and they're likeable enough, but it feels like something is missing. Particularly when it comes to the stories.
